The objective of this report is to identify improvements to the governing of the Nexus. For this purpose, we analysed the horizontal and vertical policy coherence between the Nexus domains water, land, energy, food and climate (WLEFC). Also, the regulatory gaps, ambiguities and inconsistencies in policies and policy processes, hampering the coherence, were investigated and we searched for successful national and regional tailor-made solutions applied in practice.

This type of tool has made it possible to gather people online, and allow them to compare their own strategies with others. This suggest that there is value in creating repositories of Serious Games possible solutions to different problems so as create a culture of exposure to constructive criticism and therefore more robust decisions making.

It seeks to address energy efficiency and sustainability challenges through co-production with stakeholders. The outcome of the project includes the development of a handbook with guidelines for the co-production of future policy scenarios and interventions, as well as the organisation of workshops to gather input from various participants. It adopts a collaborative approach to inform and shape future energy policies and initiatives.

The SMILE project aims to test technological and non-technological solutions for energy system integration and demand response schemes in European island grids, focusing on Orkneys (UK), Samsø (DK), and Madeira (PT). This report evaluates demand response programs for the Samsø demonstrator, detailing trials, control methods based on market price signals, and energy market impacts. It discusses the evolution of solutions for Ballen Marina, including forecasting methods, scheduling, physical setup, and simulations, leading to the final implemented system and its assessment.

Central and Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia (CEECCA) region experiences many negative impacts of global warming, which is faster and stronger than the world average. This paper explores what are the priority challenges for CEECCA countries and how to address them effectively. It addresses challenges, shortcomings and opportunities for including social perspectives in climate policies for the CEECCA region, and presents key recommendations.

SocialWatt develops and provides utilities and energy suppliers with appropriate tools for effectively engaging with their customers and working together towards alleviating energy poverty. SocialWatt will also enable obligated parties under Article 7 of the Energy Efficiency Directive across Europe to develop, adopt, test and spread innovative energy poverty schemes. 

The socioeconomic impact of COVID-19 has been widely uneven across regions and countries, reflecting underlying differences in their resilience against shocks. This paper tries to explain this heterogeneity by identifying factors of resilience and vulnerability. To fully capture the impact of the crisis on economic activity, we propose a novel index of GDP loss that measures both the initial shock and recovery rate at the country level. 

For each selected island and for each economic sector, climate change-induced risks are assessed through the evaluation of individual risk components (i.e. hazard, exposure and vulnerability), in order to allow the intercomparison of islands as to the present and future climatic shocks they are liable to face, as to the dimension and importance of the exposed natural and socioeconomic subsystems, and as to their preparedness to counteract adverse 7 conditions, by implementing effective protection and adaptation measures, as well as by translating technological acquisitions and innovative business models into operational innovation for local industries

Based on the experiences and perceptions of selected stakeholders, this policy paper assesses the needs, identifies the challenges, and draws policy-relevant recommendations about the use of digital tools for the encounter between refugees and local communities in Europe. The tools foster the sharing of past and present experiences of forced displacement, and the amplification of co-created narratives, in the context of cultural heritage.

Originating from the findings of the SOLIDUS project, the overall aim of this handbook is to act as a useful guide to foster solidarity, with a focused target audience being Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), as well as to provide examples and raise issues related to solidarity in Europe. 

The innovative character of this project is that it explores conceptually and empirically current and future expressions of European solidarity from an inter-disciplinary approach that integrates views from Sociology, Psychology, Economic Geography, Economy, Philosophy and Public Management.
