This policy brief intends to provide answers and recommendations concerning three main topics related to the period of COVID-19: 1) media representation of migrants; 2) self-representation of migrants; 3) communication between institutions and migrants.

This deliverable identifies several new tools, recommendations for the use of present tools and procedures to select and implement these tools, which is expected to enhance transnational cooperation and coordination as well as alignment of national programmes on Marine R&I.

This report develops a framework for designing CE (Circular Economy) practices that include the principles of RRI (Responsible Research & Innovation). It presents an array of techniques and methods to integrate the RRI keys and the AIRR (anticipation, inclusion, reflection, and responsiveness) dimensions into the design of CE initiatives. 

This report represents the result of 10 case studies carried out in 9 countries on different circular economy practices in diverse resource sectors and socio-cultural contexts. All case studies were carried out and analysed using the same methodological framework that combines various different academic disciplines and approaches, such as feminist ecological economics, political ecology, environmental justice, and decolonial studies.

This report presents the results of the benchmarking analysis of the good practices identified in the project’s partner countries following the selected criteria: 1. practices that focused on peer education (mentoring and peer-to-peer); 2. practices that involved children (ISCED 1, 2, 3) with migratory background and/or belonging to ethnic minorities; 3. practices that had been implemented in formal (primary, middle, high schools, adult education institutions), non-formal (socio-cultural associations, clubs, libraries) or informal educational contexts.

This study aims at (1) applying the mathematical morphology based forest spatial pattern mapping tool available at the Joint Research Centre, (2) developing an index of forest vulnerability, resistance and resilience, and finally (3) addressing the link between forests spatial pattern and forest ecological functions related to vulnerability and resilience. Multi-scale and multitemporal spatial analyses were conducted in a harmonized way over case studies in five European ecological regions.

The "First LINKS Case Report" presents initial findings from the LINKS project  LINKS - Strengthening links between technologies and society for European disaster resilience, which explores how social media and crowdsourcing (SMCS) can enhance disaster resilience in Europe. The report summarises data from five case studies (Italy, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark) covering various hazards. The study includes 67 interviews and 284 survey responses, revealing that while SMCS is valued, its use is often informal and lacks standardised procedures. Key challenges include limited guidelines, insufficient training, and unclear strategies for engaging citizens and vulnerable groups. The findings informed the development of the LINKS Framework and tools to support disaster management organisations.

LINKS “Strengthening links between technologies and society for European disaster resilience” is a comprehensive study on disaster governance in Europe. This deliverable provides the first results for the research activities taking place within the LINKS cases on the following hazard scenarios: earthquakes in Italy, industrial hazards in the Netherdlands, drought in Germany, Flooding in Denmark and terrorism in Germany. The case assessments included both cross-case and deep dive activities. The cross-case assessments included at total of 67 semi-structured interviews across the case countries, as well as an online survey which received 219 responses across the case countries (and 284 across Europe). The interviews and survey aimed to gather information on the experiences, good/best practices and needs of disaster management organizations (DMOs), for working with social media and crowdsourcing (SMCS) technologies in disaster management processes.

LINKS "Strengthening links between technologies and society for European disaster resilience" is a comprehensive European disaster governance project. This report provides products for critical stakeholders by combining knowledge and experiences about how social media and crowdsourcing (SMCS) are used in disaster risk management (DRM). It focuses on
how the second version can support and guide practitioners in their planning for the uses of SMCS through learning paths. The learning paths revolve around two main themes (engaging with citizens and improving communication) and aim at pointing users towards relevant knowledge delivered from the LINKS products.

LINKS develops a framework through an iterative process and brings together 15 partners and two associated partners across Europe (Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands) and beyond (Bosnia & Herzegovina, Japan) to understand, measure and govern social media and crowdsourcing (SMCS) for disasters. The LINKS Framework consolidates knowledge and experiences on the uses of SMCS into useful products for relevant stakeholders. This Research Report describes the second version of the LINKS "Strengthening links between technologies and society for European disaster resilience" Framework. The Framework provides products for critical stakeholders by combining knowledge and experiences about how social media and crowdsourcing (SMCS) are used in disaster risk management (DRM). It focuses on how the second version can support and guide practitioners in their planning for the uses of SMCS through learning paths. The learning paths revolve around two main themes (engaging with citizens and improving communication) and aim to point users towards relevant knowledge delivered from the LINKS products. Additionally, this deliverable outlines the design and rationale behind the second version and the next steps for developing the final version of the LINKS Framework.

This document is therefore a unique evidence-based collection of advice on rural development for all Europe, from those territories involved in LIVERUR to all the territories in the European geography. The considerable diversification of LIVERUR pilot actions both in terms of geographical coverage and in terms of rural business activities grant to this document a detailed structure, where key messaged raised by pilots’ lessons learnt are accompanied by numerous policy recommendations. This policy brief is developed to deliver key messages in a nutshell, to reach a broad target audience among policy makers.

LIVERUR aims at supporting rural businesses (including non-profit activities) operating in a rural context, by providing theoretical and practical guidance as well as the opportunity to network and exchange experiences.

The paper primarily focuses on England, given its distinct funding challenges compared to other UK regions.

The purpose of this guidebook is to illustrate how cities everywhere are responding to current and future challenges by thinking differently about how to strategically design, plan, and manage for resilience. The case studies presented here highlight the experiences, lessons learnt, and stories of resilience building from the perspective of local authorities and communities actively engaged in the programmes and initiatives led by the Medellín Collaboration on Urban Resilience (MCUR).

The OPTIMA project aims to optimize perennial grasses for biomass production in the Mediterranean area. It focuses on developing innovative systems for vegetative propagation of Giant reed and Miscanthus, as well as investigating and demonstrating the hydro-seeding of switchgrass for sustainable management of the crop in marginal lands. It also involves stakeholders such as universities and research institutions in the demonstration and implementation of good practices. The ultimate goal is to enhance biomass production and sustainable land management in the Mediterranean region.

It focuses on identifying and analysing good practices across the value chain stages, with the goal of transferring knowledge and experience to other regions with similar characteristics. It attempts to develop recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders to support the implementation of sustainable agricultural practices in marginalised areas, and therefore contributing to the economic and social development of these regions.

MAKERS will bring together leaders from business, academia and policy to study issues related to the drivers and dynamics of sustaining the competitiveness of EU manufacturing sectors.

This report details Malta's amended National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), valued at €336.3 million. Under the EU's Recovery and Resilience Facility, Malta's grant allocation decreased, but was supplemented with additions from the REPowerEU chapter and the Brexit Adjustment Reserve. The amended plan prioritizes the green transition, with 68.8% of its funds dedicated to it, making it one of the most eco-focused NRRPs. The report also aligns with EU cohesion policy programs and aims for a sustainable, digital recovery, addressing EU-wide challenges.
