This policy brief summarizes the progress of the European Universities initiative, aiming to establish systemic cooperation between EU higher education institutions by 2024. This research note reviews existing literature on household financial resilience, considers how financial resilience can be measured, presents country-level statistics from published sources and new empirical estimates using microdata from the Household Finance and Consumption Survey and the Luxembourg Wealth Study which allow us to consider how financial resilience varies across households. Finally we explore a range of existing policies and policy options for boosting households’ resilience to financial shocks.

Factors such as pre-fire vegetation, fire regime, topography, soil, and pre/post-fire climate were identified as the main drivers of post-fire vegetation recovery

The FIRE-IN project aims to enhance fire and rescue innovation by developing strategic research and standardization agendas. It focuses on improving disaster management, risk reduction, and response capabilities through the integration of new technologies, training programs, and policy development. The project tries to evaluate existing equipment and systems, to identify new technologies for procurement, and to develop collaborative synergies with various agencies and administrations. Ultimately, FIRE-IN seeks to advance the effectiveness and efficiency of fire and rescue operations to better protect communities and mitigate the impact of disasters.

This report aims to facilitate the assessment of one of the dimensions of resilient landscapes, namely the physical environment. Based on a literature review and the results of a survey of wildfire experts, this report highlights key fuel-related factors, metrics, and thresholds for determining resistance and resilience to extreme fire events and high-intensity fires. Factors such as fuel load, fuel structure, connectivity, land cover and land- use structure were identified as influencing landscape resistance (i.e., the ability of a system to withstand a disturbance), while fire-related plant traits and fire regime attributes have been identified as influencing resilience.
